Kirana Permata To Support Smallholder and Family

Dirops Kirana Permata Tedi Noviandi menyerahkan bingkisan LebaranKirana Megatara Group and Pirelli resumed their joint CSR activity, particularly focused on the community of rubber smallholders. Under the banner “Kirana Permata – Pirelli Scholarship Award & Food Aid Program”, the set of activities were held at the District Office of Lubai, in the Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatera, on 19 June 2015.

Witnessing the event were local officials such as Regency Head Enim Muzakir Sai Sohar, Chief of Military District 0404, District Police Chief, Chief of State Judge, Deputy Chair of Muara Enim Parliament, Head of Lubai District Edy Susanto and other dignitaries. Also present were CEO and COO of PT Evoluzione Tyres Pirelli Indonesia, Enrico Verdino and Paulo Marks, respectively, along with the Head of Natural Rubber & Asian Purchasing Division, Antoni Ulrich. Representing the Kirana Megatara Group were Director Daniel Tirta Kristiadi, Plant Head of PT Kirana Permata Tedi Noviandi with his staffs.

Heading the event was a traditional welcome dance from South Sumatera which involved placing head covering around the impressed prominent guest’s necks.

Antoni Ulrich remarked that Pirelli is serious about its corporate social responsibility especially toward smallholders who are direct rubber producers. The scholarship aid it contributed was the second of its kind which commenced last year. This time there were 60 scholarship recipients with the following breakdown: Rp. 2.5 million for each elementary student, Rp. 3 million for each middle-school student, and Rp. 3.5 million for each high-school student.

According to Daniel, Kirana Megatara and Pirelli are committed to help alleviate smallholders in light of the current depressed rubber prices. “Kirana Megatara provides training to smallholder and his family to adopt good agriculture practices GAP,” said he.

In response to the above CSR activity, one of the scholarship recipients, Marwoto, expressed his gratitude to Kirana Megatara Group and Pirelli. “I hope that Kirana will prosper more,” he prayed.

In addition to the scholarship package, Kirana Permata handed out staple aids to 110 underprivileged families in the Lubai District. Not stopping at there, the plant’s head on behalf of Kirana Permata donated a set of fire extinguisher equipment to the District of Lubai office.

Regency Head Muzakir extended his appreciation to the joint Kirana Megatara Group and Pirelli collaboration for their compassion toward the local community. The local residences were also urged to show a sense of belonging over Kirana Permata plant, by supporting the plant’s sustainability. “I wish for Kirana Permata’s to keep getting better so it can continue to contribute to the local economy, mainly Lubai District.”

The festivity was enliven by the cultural performance of Rebana Al Hidayah Tanjung Kemala. The day concluded with break of fasting dinner, which was preceded by a sermon from Ustadz Taufik who led the local Darussa’ Muara Enim Islamic boarding school. (Rahmat Untung)***
