An audit was conducted recently by Sumitomo, to assess PT Tirta Sari Surya's level of compliance with the EUDR process in general. Tuesday (22/4), this audit was intended as an assessment and approval from Sumitomo to PT Tirta Sari Surya prior to the purchase of EUDR products.

Mr. Daiki Miyaji, Sumitomo's auditor, attended the audit accompanied by several staff from the Head Office. The Head Office staffs assisted the factory to ensure the success of the audit. The Director of Operations, Mr. Bambang Agus Purwanto and the managers of PT Tirta Sari Surya also assisted the EUDR audit, to ensure the entire series of audit activities went properly.

The audit focused on all the required standards in the EUDR process, starting from confirming that the farmer suppliers have properly conducted no deforestation on their rubber land in compliance with the existing regulations, to the production process and handling of export-ready EUDR products. Moreover, there are several key points in the standard EUDR handling process, specifically the separation of all storage areas, the use of different tools in EUDR and non-EUDR production, and the sanitization of the entire milling and crumbing line prior to EUDR production.

Following on from the audit inspection, Mr. Daiki Miyaji stated “The entire EUDR production process has been carried out in accordance with existing standards, I strongly recommend companies to purchase EUDR products at SCE.” He also confirmed that Sumitomo would purchase EUDR products from PT Tirta Sari Surya, though it would take some time to complete all the required paperwork. Director of Operations, Mr. Bambang Agus Purwanto responded and said “It is a pleasure to welcome you to purchase EUDR products from PT Tirta Sari Surya, as it is safe to say that Sumitomo will love to use our products, as well as other buyers.”

The product quality and commitment of the company in complying with existing standards have been the major things that are trusted by the customers. As a conclusion to the meeting, the Operations Director and managers were in agreement and emphasized that customer satisfaction remains the number one priority.
