Production Facilities Assistance Support Rubber Farmers Hope for Rubber Productivity

The spread of the deadly Pestalotiopsis leaf disease throughout the rubber-producing areas, effect to annual defoliation that is more than usual. Production losses of up to 60% for typical farmer are not unheard of during deforestation. Another incident surely the spread of the SARS corona 2 virus or a Covid19 which resulted in economic difficulties, especially for rubber farmers.

Kirana Megatara in collaboration with Yokohama Rubber Group (YRG), a world-renowned tire manufacturer based in Japan, has been involved in various projects, especially in rubber-producing countries as part of its commitment to contribute to the sustainability of Natural Rubber. Organizing a joint CSR project by distributing 1,000 liters of ant acid and 15,000 kg of fertilizer to farmer partners to help increase farmers' income and the health of rubber trees as their main source of income.

The production facilities were donated symbolically on December 1, 2022 at Muaro Pijoan Village, Kab. Muaro Jambi, Jambi Province and attended by delegation from Yokohama Japan & Singapore, local govemerment officials, and partners of farmer PT Djambi Waras Jambi. The One-day event was designed with the purpose of increasing awareness of cultivating rubber properly for the sustainability of natural rubber as the main source of livelihood.

Morover, in this occasion an MOU was signed for collaboration and partnership between Kirana Megatara & The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. where both parties cooperate to provide economic support to Indonesian Community, rubber farmers, and improve traceability of the natural rubber supply chain.
